Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 24, 2026 · Effective date: April 24, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Arcnova ("Arcnova," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). We take your privacy seriously and designed the Service to minimize the data we collect to what is reasonably necessary to operate and improve it.
01Information We Collect
We collect limited information in the following categories:
Information you provide to us
When you sign in through a supported third-party identity provider (such as Apple, Google, Facebook, or X), we receive basic account information made available by that provider, which may include your name, email address, and a unique identifier. We do not receive or store your password for any third-party provider.
If you contact us (for example, by email), we receive the content of your message and any information you voluntarily provide.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Service, we may automatically collect:
- Device and technical information: device model, operating system and version, language, time zone, approximate region (derived from IP address), and crash diagnostics.
- Usage information: the stories and chapters you open, your reading progress, choices you make within stories, in-app events, and session timestamps.
- Log data: standard server logs such as IP address, request timestamps, and error reports.
Information we do not collect
We do not intentionally collect precise geolocation, contacts, photos, microphone, or health data. The Service does not require access to these to function.
02How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and secure the Service, including authenticating your account and syncing your reading progress.
- Understand how users interact with the Service so we can improve content, features, and performance.
- Diagnose technical problems, prevent abuse, and detect fraudulent activity.
- Communicate with you about updates, changes to our terms or policies, and support inquiries.
- Comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising by third parties.
03How We Share Information
We share information only in limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We work with trusted vendors who help us operate the Service — for example, cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting, and customer support. These providers process information on our behalf under contractual obligations to protect it.
- Legal and safety: We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, or valid government requests; to enforce our terms; or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Arcnova, our users, or others.
- Business transfers: If Arcnova is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
04Third-Party Sign-In
The Service supports sign-in through third-party identity providers. When you choose to sign in this way, the provider authenticates you and returns a limited set of profile information to us (described in Section 1). Your interactions with those providers are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.
05Data Retention
We retain information for as long as your account is active, as needed to provide the Service, or as required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a commercially reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it.
06Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
- Access, correct, or receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Request deletion of your personal information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 11. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You can also delete your account at any time from within the Service's settings.
07Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate parental consent, we will take steps to delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
08International Users
Arcnova is operated globally, and your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than the one in which you reside. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from those in your home country. When we transfer personal information internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives an appropriate level of protection.
09Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
10Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (for example, through the Service or by email). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
